CHAPLAINS REPORT
Brothers,
A New Year's Prayer
Dear Lord, please give me
A few friends who understand me and remain my friends…
A work to do which has real value,
without which the world would be the poorer…
A mind unafraid to travel, even though the trail be
not blazed…
An understanding heart.
A sense of humor.
Time for quiet, silent meditation.
A feeling of the presence of God.
The patience to wait for the coming of these
things...
With the wisdom to recognize them when they come.
Amen.
God bless our
brother Knights as the Lord leads us into a new year, new adventures, new
beginnings and newness of life. We begin again. It’s never to late
to start over. It’s never too late set our sights on higher goals.
Lord, grant
us the courage to see your wisdom in all new things. Happy New 2006.
Yours in Christ
Fr. Bill
Kornacker
A lot of people have shown an
interest in Father Bill’s mission efforts in
On his last trip the donations
were used to provide the very poor and needy with a hot breakfast. It costs

Brothers,
A new year, a time to start fresh, a time to look at what you can do to
make a difference & what you can do to make this world a better place. As Knights we are committed to charity,
easing the plight of those less fortunate, so I encourage all brothers to live
up to the words “ Knights – Men of action”.
Election for the
position of treasurer was held at our December general meeting, so please join
me in congratulating our new treasurer Brother Frank Van der Pryt.
If anyone did not
attend our member’s Christmas party on Dec 3, they missed a night of fun &
laughter. I would like to thank the entire Gardin family (Gary, Penny, Jesse,
Melanie & Jason Campbell) for once again creating the entertainment for the
evening. They came up with a Miss North Pole Competition featuring myself and a
few of my brother Knights as the contestants. Needless to say it was not pretty
but it was very funny.
Our annual basket
bingo was held on Dec 18 with approx. 210 people in attendance. Not as well
attended as we may have hoped but we were still able to make a profit which was
donated to
I would like to
give a special thanks to Brother Lynn Richardson & Gerard Beaulieu for
taking on the task of repairing the wheelchairs. They look brand new…Thanks
K of C car raffle

COLUMBIAN
CLUB REPORT

Brothers,
This is the first time I've written
anything with the 2006 date. Where in
the heck did 2005 go? I thought time
only flew when you were having fun. I guess
in a way we were having fun even though 2005 was a year of upheaval to say the
least. Early in the year our manager of
many years retired, putting the board of directors in a position of running the
club for a few months while the process of finding another manager was carried
out. They say that every cloud has a
silver lining and that was the case here where necessity was the mother of
invention. One of the things the board
did was seize the opportunity to do a tremendous amount of housecleaning. Another was to streamline and modernize our
office while giving it a well-deserved facelift. While all this was happening one of our board
members, Frank Van der Pryt was feverishly working to get our accounts payable
in order. Here we are in December and
Frank along with our new manager Sean and our operations coordinator Janice
have finally got our accounts organized and up to date. We are now concentrating our efforts on our
accounts receivable.
We are getting closer to bringing our
operation kicking and screaming into the 21st century with the installation of
a P.O.S. (Point Of Sale) system. This
system will have a computer installed at the bar that will be cabled to the
computer in the office. Every
transaction will be recorded in the computer both for revenue and inventory
purposes. This system has the potential
to modernize our way of tracking and controlling our business in a very big
way. Most modern bar and food
establishments have been using this system for some time now.
Hopefully we can look back a year from now
with pride at a more efficient smoother running business.
Every board member brought something to the
table based on their life and career experiences during this time of
change. I thank them all, along with our
staff for getting us to this point. We
still have a lot of work to do!
