CHAPLAINS REPORT
Brothers,
“I’m a Christian.
I lead my own life. I harm no
one. I get along and mind my own
business. When someone harms me, I
forgive him…but I don’t forget.”
This statement is frequently heard. Perhaps it even expresses the attitude of
many of us. But is that what
Christianity is all about? Is that a
life style according to the spirit of Jesus?
Doing one’s duty, and even a bit more, for the
members of one’s family; expressing
tremendous love for people who are dear to us; giving thanks to people who have
helped us; extending a helping hand to those who are sympathetic towards us;
all of their actions are certainly not contrary to the Gospel. It is not because of their actions that a person
can consider himself or herself a Christian.
Being a Christian means going beyond that, further
than one’s little world. Being Christian
means wanting the happiness of others, and of everyone else, by acting
accordingly. We must take the initiative
concerning those who are around us in order to influence them along with us to
follow the Christ of the Gospel who will lead us to the great assembly of all
people through love. We must believe
that in every human being there is a real wealth, a love germ which perhaps
sometimes is extremely dormant but which demands only discovery and
development.
The popular expression says “Don’t do to others what
you don’t want them to do to you.” In a more positive fashion Jesus says: “What
you want these to do for you, do likewise for them.”
Yours in Christ
Fr. Leo Lariviere, Chaplain

GRAND KNIGHT’S REPORTBrothers,
I can’t believe that we are already in the month of May. The Month of
May is a very busy month around the council, especially for the K of C
Executive elections which will be held @ this month’s General Dinner Meeting.
Good luck to all Brothers who will stand for the positions they have been
nominated for. Just a reminder that nominations will re-open at this months
meeting before the election takes place. Please come out & support the
brothers who are running. Please call the hall a couple of days before the
meeting to let us know how many we can expect for the dinner.
The Columbian club elections will be held at the June General Dinner Meeting.
We will open up nominations at the May meeting,
however they will also be opened up again at the June meeting before the
election. Please come out & support your executive.
I would like to thank a bunch of people who helped out at a few
functions in April. Thanks to Bro. Gary Gardin, Bro. Dave Taylor, Bro. Wayne Hansen who helped me with the Spaghetti Dinner.
It was a very busy night, and I thank them for their help. The May Spaghetti
Night will be held on Friday May 20th from
On Sunday April 17th, the Knights cooked the breakfast for
the Squires. Thanks to PGK Elie Bertrand for heading
up the Kitchen, along with the help from Bro. Claude Lognion,
Bro. Wayne Hansen, Bro. Murray Kirzinger, & our Financial Secretary’s wife
Marcella Martin. A great meal was had by all in attendance.
Congratulations go out to our
Squirettes of Mary Circle. Three of our Squirettes Executive
Members have been elected to the
Mothers Day Breakfast – The Knights will be cooking for the Mother / Daughter Breakfast on
Sunday May 8th. For large groups – reservations are suggested –
contact Marie Morand at 726-5071.
Car Raffle Tickets – Just a reminder for last minute purchases of the Car Raffle Tickets.
Please remember Brothers that when you consider purchasing these tickets, you
are not only helping the Arthritis Society, you are also helping your Council
raise money for our worthwhile Charities, as our Councils receives a portion of
the sales. For all our members who were kind enough to take books of tickets to
sell, please be sure that all monies and/or tickets
and stubs are returned to me by the General Dinner Meeting on May 11th.
Thank you to all the Bro’s who have sold tickets for our Council.
In closing, have a great month, and Be Sure To Get Involved In Your Council!!!
Fraternally Yours,
Chuck Roy

COLUMBIAN CLUB REPORT

Dear Brother Knights,
The Good Friday fish fry was a
blockbuster. We served in excess of 500
meals, one of the biggest crowds in recent memory. The Knights of
The chicken continues to sell well and we
will continue to pursue more business.
In that regard it was decided to send out flyers to everyone with a
postal code of NOR 1JO advertising both our chicken and our Sunday morning
breakfasts. Thank you to brother Chuck Roy for facilitating this initiative. The response has been so good that we will
probably do more postal codes in the future.
Regarding the breakfasts, the first one on April 3rd didn’t
go over too well. We didn’t have enough
staff to serve the larger than expected crowd.
That oversight has been rectified and the breakfasts seem to be going a
lot smoother. Thanks to the squires and
chief squire A.J. Langlois for the advertising blitz
carried out on our behalf on Easter weekend.
Fraternally Yours,
Gary Gardin
Columbian Club
President
