CHAPLAINS REPORT

Jesus’s miracles made people sit up and take notice.  They were “signs”, proclaiming by His very actions that something important and even historic was happening.  They were “signs” proclaiming that Jesus was setting in motion the long awaited Kingdom of God.  And what was this Kingdom of God?

It was a new world order in which love would replace hate, concern would replace apathy, light would replace darkness, truth would replace deceit and life would replace death.  It was a new world vision, and a new world order in which God’s will is to be done “on earth as it is in heaven.”

In what way is your personal life being a “sign” to those you meet?  What is one way that your personal life reflects to those around you the new world order that Jesus began?  Have you replaced true love for anger and bitterness towards others?  Have you chosen to always live by the truth rather than deceiving or covering up to give a good outward appearance to others?  Have you chosen the path of life by making Jesus the very center of your life?  If you haven’t done this, then maybe its time to really think about this.

During the summer months, we have so many tremendous opportunities to get together with friends, neighbours and relatives, that we weren’t able to visit with over the colder, wintry months. As we prepare for the good times with others at the golf course, around the barbeque, at poolside, or at the campground, let’s try to show visibly these “signs” to others that we may have chosen to work with Jesus in building “His Kingdom”.

                Have a super summer!

Yours in Christ,

Fr. Leo Lariviere

GRAND KNIGHT’S REPORT

Brothers:

I congratulate all of the members who stood for office in our May 8th Knight of Columbus elections.  All of the executives returned by acclamation with the exception of the two Trustee positions.  We welcome past Grand Knight Larry Bezaire to the three year Trustee position and Kevin Langlois to the one year Trustee position.

The one year Trustee is being vacated by Henry Labreque for personal reasons.  I thank Henry for all his help and good advice while on the board and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.  I know that he will remain active and help whenever he is available.

On May 12th the McGregorettes put on their annual Mother’s Day breakfast.  The Knights of Columbus always do the cooking with the help of the McGregorettes.  It is a very successful event as some 320 people attended.

At this time I would like to offer our most sincere thanks and appreciation for all the help that the McGregorettes do for the Knights of Columbus.  They cook for all our dinner meetings, take their turn at doing the fish fries, do all of the funeral meals and assist the K of C with other events.  Once again - Thank you!

On May 3rd the Columbian Club put on a smelt fry which was very successful.  A well planned event by Sue Deschamp and Michelle Pest.  Some 200 people came to taste this wonderful meal.  People enjoyed it so much that they were asking when we were going to do it again!  Many thanks to the volunteers who worked this smelt fry.

On June 12th we will be having our last dinner meeting for this fraternal year.  We will hold elections for the Columbian Club Executives at that time.  It would be nice to have as many Brothers attend as we did at the May meeting.

Let’s not forget that on June 16th the Squires will have a Father’s Day breakfast.  Bring out your family and join us for breakfast.

On July 18th to the 21st we will have the pilgrims for the World Youth Day come to our Village.

On the 21st of July we will have the annual Church Picnic.  All parishioners and families are welcome.

On July 28th the Robert Jones Council will be coming to our annual summer party at Co-An Park.  All K of C members and family are welcome.

Again on August 11th this year we will celebrate Father McGivney’s birthday at the 10:30 Mass at St. Clement Church with a breakfast served afterwards.  I hope to see many people attend our Founder’s birthday celebration.

On August 18th our annual Senior Complex steak BBQ will be held.  There will only be one fish fry in the month of June, July and August.

I would like to thank all of the Chairmen who hosted all of the events for the past year.  I would also like to thank the Knights of Columbus Executives for doing a great job and making it a memorable year.  To all our members who participated by attending these functions and making them a success, thank you!

Finally, on behalf of all the Knights of Columbus Executives, we wish you all a safe, happy and enjoyable summer.

“Remember to always dream.  More importantly, to make those dreams come true and never give up.”

Robert D. Ballard

Fraternally,

The Knights would like to thank all the 13 groups who participated in the Chili Cook-Off on April 5.  The winners of 1st place were the McGregor Squires who donated their prize money for the cough assist machine. The 2nd place winners were The Brick House, who donated their money to the Heart & Stroke Foundation and the 3rd place winners were the Amherstburg Police Assoc., who donated their money to the McGregor Seniors Complex. Most of the leftover chili were donated to the food bank and the St Vincent De Paul.

We raised $750.00 for charity that night. A special thanks to everyone who attended.

There will also be a trophy for the winners of both games. If you’re interested in playing in the competitive game please call Dave Taylor at 726-8886.  There will be a sign–up sheet in the clubroom for everyone else. Please sign the sheet so that we know how much food to prepare. Come out and enjoy a Sunday afternoon with our friends from Robt. Jones

McGregor Seniors Complex Report

We have been very busy getting things ready for our annual steak barbecue on Sunday, August 18th, 2002. We hope this year will be as successful as last year.  This is one of are major fundraisers for the complex. With advertising eating up our budget, this fundraiser will help to keep the bills paid. We want to thank the companies and personal donations to our raffle this year. The total prizes added up to $1500.00. Ticket sales have already started, so if you can sell some books for us it would be greatly appreciated. Please call Al O’Neil at 737-9475 for tickets. Every ticket sold gives 100% towards the project. Jen Gagnon has the dinner tickets this year and she will need help to sell these tickets so call her at 726-6449.

We will also need at least 70 volunteers on that day so call us to put your name on the list.

This years barbecue will be geared once again for the whole family. The entertainment includes, outdoor bands, dunk tank, jumping ballon room for the kids, horseshoes etc.  Steak tickets are $15.00 and the chicken tickets will be $12.50. Please try to purchase tickets early so we know how much food to prepare. Tickets will also be available at the clubroom.

Sincerely

The McGregor Seniors Complex Board

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS INSURANCE

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS INSURANCE

WE ALL WANT THE SAME THING

Most men worry about their families. If you are like most, there are so many demands on your current income that you find it difficult to set anything aside for the kind of future you’d like to provide.  If you are like most fathers, you probably want the same things:

. . .  the respect of your family, your friends and the community in which you live

. . .  a happy home with a family that is content

. . .  a good house that will always be home

. . .  the ability to help your children with their education

. . .  enough money to make your retirement easier

. . .  and enough money to be able to enjoy some of the better things in life.

With good fortune (and a long life), you’ll probably be able to accomplish most of these objectives.  But if you’re like most people, you’d benefit from a plan to help you realize them.

I can design a plan that will help you realize your ambitions.  Call me today, and we’ll work on it together.
