CHAPLAINS REPORT
Brothers;
One of the areas our fraternal
organization is involved includes:
providing assistance to anyone in need of support. I know our council has a beautiful practice
of visiting sick members of the Order.
They are in need of our support.
I am sure it means a lot to the sick you visit. After all we are called to “heal the sick”
or to use every means within our power and the power that God provides, to meet
those people and minister to them at the point of their immediate and recognized
need. Our God may not transmit through
us the power to heal diseases, but we
do have the power to show love and concern, and there are resources within our
reach to bring people into contact with healing forces. We can heal their loneliness, to raise them
out of despair, to restore their dignity, or to provide for some of their
material needs in order to alleviate their sufferings.
Through our love and concern we can introduce people to and communicate to them the concern of a loving God – and the power He offers to bring healing and enrichment, meaning and purpose into their lives. They have probably heard the message before. Now, as never before, they may see it demonstrated before them in our love and concern for humanity. Now, as never before, they may be moved to respond to it.
Evangelism is our task; this ought to be our method. There are riches involved, and we may never
see the results of our witness to most of those within our arena of
responsibility. God never promised visible results, only an open door, a
harvest field of opportunities.
May He find us
faithful and obedient to our calling as His ministers and servants.
Yours in Christ,
Fr. Leo Lariviere
Chaplain

Brothers;
Did
September fly by or what? With Thanksgiving fast approaching, Christmas seems
right around the corner. We wish all Brothers & their families a very Happy
Thanksgiving. Let’s us be thankful for the many good things in our life. We
have our family, our friends & most off all our health.
On September
7th, we held our Father Michael McGivney Memorial Mass @ St.
Clements Parish. Special Thanks to Father Bill & our K of C Chaplain Father
Leo for a wonderful mass and welcoming all the visitors from other councils in
our district. Thanks to the 4th Degree Color Guard for their
involvement. An outstanding job as always.
We then
followed with a breakfast @ our hall with 100 in attendance. Thank you to PGK
Elie Bertrand, PGK Gary Gardin, PGK Gord Renaud, Bro. Al O’neil & his wife
Carol, Bro. Gerry Drouillard & his wife Becky and Bro. Russ Dalpee who put
on a wonderful Breakfast. Thank you!
We then had our Installation Of Officers for our new Executive for 2003/2004. In attendance along with our executive, was our very own Squires & LaSalle Council # 9500 who are in our District. Thank you to our District Deputy Bro. Gord Edwards & Father Leo for installing all the Knights and Squires.
Please keep
DGK Dave Taylor & his wife Debbie in your prayers on the recent passing of
Debbie’s mother Brenda on September 7th. Brenda was the wife of a
long time member, Bro. Don Myers. Please keep their family in your prayers.
As discussed
last month our 62nd Annual Banquet will be held on Saturday
November, 8th. There is a Mass for our deceased members @ 5:00PM at
St. Clements Parish. We will then continue the program @ our hall with dinner
& awards to follow. Tickets are
$20.00 and must be purchased through Bro. Paul Sylvester, as seating is
on a reserved basis. Paul can be reached @ 726-6357. Thank you to Bro. Paul for
his continued work as chairman year after year.
The Squires will be hosting their Thanksgiving Basket Bingo on Sunday October 5th. Please support the Squires, as all proceeds go towards the many wonderful projects that they work on year round.
Fish Fry’s
for the month of October are sponsored by the Knights Of Columbus. If you would
like to volunteer your time, please call myself @ 735-2825 or Bro. Jim Biggs @
735-5457. Fish Fry’s are a very good revenue generator for the Columbian Club,
which helps to offset our very high fixed costs that we incur on a monthly
basis. For example hydro, gas, building repair & maintenance etc. Our Fish
Fry’s this month will be Friday October 10th & 24th.
If you are available, your help would be greatly appreciated.
In closing,
we the executive of the McGregor K of C #2844 truly hope that every member and
their family have a very safe & Happy Thanksgiving!
Fraternally Yours,
Chuck Roy
Grand Knight
DISTRICT DEPUTIES REPORT
Dear Brothers;
As I sit to write this article we have two of the four councils installed. I would like to thank Brother Chuck Roy the new Grand Knight of St. Clements Council in McGregor for hosting a corporate communion, breakfast and installation on September 7th. This made the day just a little bit more special for the executives of these two councils. I would also like to thank Brother Greg Moore for getting so many of his executives out for this beautiful event. Having the colour guard at the mass just makes it more majestic. Next will be the installation at Holy Name in Essex which will be held after mass for this council and St. Mary’s Council. Thi
